Why Abi Chose the Programme
Abi is an experienced health sector consultant and coach. As part of her practice she also works with her own coach. Recognising that she wanted to invest further in her own development, she sought something that would offer her a “skills refresh” and challenge her perspective. On the recommendation of a trusted professional she joined the Client Centred programme—which had been described to her as “one of the best development experiences available.”
“I was aware that I hadn’t invested in my own development for a while… I was interested in refreshing my skills and looking at my work from different perspectives rather than solving a specific problem.”
The Programme Experience
Abi described the programme as immersive, rich and deeply human. She found herself part of a vibrant, mixed-sector peer group, which was especially refreshing coming from the health sector environment where there is a very closed ecosystem when it comes to leadership and development.
The safe, trusted environment allowed Abi to experiment, practice and receive feedback from peers and skilled facilitators.
One of the aspects Abi valued most was “the intense time spent practicing, it was a total experiential package”
“There’s so much value in being with people from totally different backgrounds… It helps you see your own world with fresh eyes.”
Impact on Work and Life
The programme had direct and immediate impact on her work and far-reaching effects. Abi applied key techniques—like the ‘gift exercise’ and better contracting—into her work with Executive teams in the NHS.
“Before the Client Centred programme I would have stayed in the technical space. Now, I’m inviting more personal, appreciative approaches into my work, being client centred and the results are very good.”
It also encouraged her to revisit her unfinished ‘legacy’ work and make more conscious choices about how she spends her time.
Reflections & Recommendations
Abi described herself post-programme as “the worst kind of evangelist convert,” urging others in her field to enroll.
“You really ought to do this—it’s fantastic.”
